Linus
Linus — Comfort as a Starting Point.
Linus was born from a very personal place. Its founder, Isa Chusid, had long observed the damaging dynamics of the fashion industry, from the pressure on workers to the toll on the environment. When a condition called ligament laxity made it medically necessary for her to wear shoes with curved foot support, she saw an opportunity to rethink what a sandal could be: genuinely comfortable, designed to last, and made with the smallest possible footprint. In just over six months, working alongside insole specialists, orthopaedists, material engineers and designers, Linus took shape.
One Material, Thoughtfully Chosen
Every Linus sandal is made from a single material: micro-expanded PVC. The choice is deliberate. This is a 100% recyclable material, with 70% of its composition derived from renewable sources, and one of its core components is salt, sourced from salterns rather than rock salt and considered an inexhaustible resource. The composition is completely free from heavy metals and phthalates, with all plasticisers of entirely vegetable origin. There is nothing in Linus that has been tested on animals, making each sandal fully vegan.
Made in Brazil, Powered by Clean Energy
Production takes place entirely in Brazil, a country that holds a privileged position in clean and renewable energies. Linus works with partner factories that run on solar energy, an approach that directly addresses one of PVC's known challenges: its typically high energy consumption during production. The design is minimalist and intentionally timeless, so that each pair can be worn across many seasons and many years.
Closing the Loop
Sustainability at Linus extends beyond the product itself. In partnership with FutureCarbon, the brand offsets double the carbon it emits across its full operation, from production through to daily office life. Through its collaboration with Grupo Muda, Linus offsets 100% of the plastic it produces and the paper it uses, channelling that offset through certified sorting centres and supporting an initiative that installs selective waste bins in residential buildings across São Paulo, creating income for recycling workers and promoting environmental education at a community level. Packaging follows the same logic: paper tape replaces plastic adhesive, and no unnecessary inserts are included.
Roots and Responsibility
Linus also directs its profits and its community connections toward causes that matter. All profits from the Linus Amazônia line are donated in full to OPAN, the Operação Amazônia Nativa, a non-governmental organisation that works to strengthen indigenous leadership and protect the rights of the peoples of the Amazon. Since 2020, the brand has partnered with AFESU, a social organisation that has offered free education and professional training to young people in vulnerable situations in São Paulo for over sixty years.
Linus & Be We
Linus is a brand that began with a question of personal wellbeing and arrived at something much larger: a model that holds comfort, responsibility and community together without compromise. Rooted in Brazil and grounded in material honesty, it is precisely the kind of thinking that Be We exists to bring closer.
