Traffic People
Traffic People
Traffic People was born in 2002 among the market stalls of Portobello Road and Camden, inspired by the beautifully dressed women of eras past, from Lauren Bacall to Bianca Jagger, and by the wish to give that timeless glamour a contemporary edge with just the right touch of mischief.
Vintage, reworked
The designs move freely between 1920s ease, the curve of a 1950s wiggle dress and the sparkle of 70s disco, translated through bold prints and carefully considered details. A small in-house team never mass produces, with some styles made in runs of only around fifty, and silhouettes are chosen to stand out while lasting well beyond the season.
Relationships and responsibility
Sourcing is handled in-house by co-founder and designer Louise Reynolds, who meets suppliers in person, and the brand has worked with the same factory for more than a decade under principles grounded in the International Labour Organization’s core conventions. Production is kept in a single factory, orders travel in paper rather than plastic, and unsold stock is donated to charity shops instead of going to landfill.
Traffic People & Be We
At Be We, Traffic People brings a spirited, print-led voice to a curation built on intentional design and conscious consumption. Its small runs, long-standing factory relationship and clothes made to be worn for years reflect values we share: care in how things are made, respect for the people who make them, and pieces chosen to be loved again and again.
